Dr. David Roth, MD - Founder & Chief Medical Officer -
Dr. David Roth is a third-generation Louisvillian and triple board-certified phsycian who founded Bluegrass Advanced Mental Health to bring advanced, evidence-based treatment for depression, OCD, and anxiety disorders to Louisville and the surrounding region.
A graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine, he completed the University of Hawaii’s Triple Board Residency, an intensive five-year program integrating pediatrics, adult psychiatry, and child & adolescent psychiatry.
Get to know Dr. Roth
With more than 30 years of clinical experience, Dr. Roth treats children, adolescents, and adults, with particular expertise in treatment-resistant depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. His practice provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment, including advanced interventional options such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato® (esketamine), for patients whose symptoms have not responded adequately to standard treatment.
Dr. Roth takes a compassionate, collaborative, and highly individualized approach to care. He works to understand each patient as a whole person, not just a diagnosis, and when appropriate includes family members and other key supports in treatment. His approach combines evidence-based medicine with careful listening, clear treatment planning, and attention to the relationships, strengths, and values that support lasting recovery.
Before returning to Louisville, Dr. Roth served in psychiatric leadership roles in California and practiced for more than two decades in Hawaii.
He has also published and taught nationally on innovative mental health care and telepsychiatry. Dr. Roth welcomes referrals for children, adolescents, and adults in need of specialized psychiatric evaluation, second-opinion consultation, or advanced treatment for treatment-resistant depression, OCD, and related conditions.

Kim Woods, PMHNP-BC, PMH-C
Kim is a Board Certified, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with five years of clinical experience in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. She is experienced in managing a broad range of conditions including depression, bipolar spectrum disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma-related conditions and psychosis.
Get to know Kim
Kim approaches each patient relationship as a kind of emotional archaeology - a collaborative process of exploring personal history, family patterns and past experiences with medication and therapy to build a complete picture. From there, she works alongside each person to create a treatment plan tailored to who they are, not just the symptoms they're managing. Medication can be a valuable tool, but it's always one part of a larger, more human story.
A significant focus of her practice is perinatal mental health, a chapter of life she considers one of the most consequential for a woman's long-term emotional well-being. She holds a specialty certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International (PSI) and brings deep expertise in evidence-based psychopharmacologic care during pregnancy and postpartum.
She has completed advanced training through PSI and the National Curriculum in Reproductive Psychiatry, as well as five years of structured mentorship. She has also spoken at regional and state conferences on perinatal mental health and co-facilitated PSI's Postpartum
Psychosis Survivor Support Group for 2 years.
Outside the office, Kimberly is happiest cheering for the Dodgers and spending time outdoors kayaking, hiking and gardening, or around a bonfire with the people she loves.

Sebastian - Chief Joy Officer
With a wagging tail and a heart as big as Kentucky, Sebastian brings warmth, calm, and unconditional acceptance to everyone he meets.
A three-year-old Standard Poodle with a permanent smile and a uniquely coiffed coat, Sebastian takes his role as Chief Joy Officer very seriously.
Get to know Sebastian
Research shows that animal-assisted therapy reduces anxiety, lowers blood pressure, and promotes emotional well-being—and Sebastian considers this his personal mandate.
Whether he's greeting patients with a gentle nudge, supervising staff meetings from his favorite rug, offering a reassuring presence during difficult moments, or simply brightening a tough day, Sebastian reminds us all of the healing power of being fully present with another living being (and the therapeutic benefits of a good belly rub).
When he's off duty, you'll find him chasing his favorite red ball, perfecting his extensive bowtie collection, and maintaining his "pawsitively" professional image.
Around here, we say that no appointment truly begins until Sebastian says hello.
